PRESS RELEASE - Launch of Spotted by Locals Sofia blog and mobile cityguide

Amsterdam, Netherlands - June 23, 2011 -- Spotted by Locals, an award winning series of cityguides with up-to-date tips by handpicked local bloggers in 34 cities in Europe, today launched its Sofia (Bulgaria) cityblog.

Spotted by Locals was started in 2008 by Sanne & Bart van Poll, two married Amsterdam (Netherlands) locals and travel addicts, because they could not find a good guidebook that provided up-to-date and real local information. Bart van Poll: "City travelers are progressively looking to learn more about the local culture of their chosen destinations. They do not only want to 'do a city' by visiting standard highlights."

Sanne van Poll: "Each of the 34 European cityblogs are written by people who live there and speak the language. Spots are easy to browse online by city or topic and come with location maps. You can also download a PDF cityguide or an iPhone app."

In Sofia, Sanne and Bart have selected three passionate Sofia-loving locals, Boyko Blagoev, Denica Todorova and Vanya Nikova, to start up the Sofia cityblog. The favorite spots of these three Sofia "Spotters" include a photo exhibition, a walk around a street taking you up a mountain, a new "music temple" and a bread shop. Not the typical Sofia highlights!

Last year, Spotted by Locals was awarded a "Best Travel Website" award by newspaper The Guardian, and a Lonely Planet "Best Group Authored travel blog".
